Convention Theme: 120 Years of Nursing Excellence: Honoring Our Legacy, Shaping Our Future

The Nebraska Nurses Association (NNA) invites nurses, healthcare professionals, educators, researchers, and leaders to submit proposals for presentations at the 2026 NNA Annual Convention, celebrating 120 years of nursing excellence in Nebraska. This milestone event will reflect on the profession’s rich legacy while exploring innovative ideas, leadership strategies, and emerging practices that will shape the future of nursing and healthcare in Nebraska.

We seek dynamic, interactive presentations that inspire nurses, advance professional practice, and provide practical strategies attendees can apply in their work. Sessions should explore topics that contribute to the continued advancement of the nursing profession.

Target Audience

Convention attendees include front-line nurses, nursing managers/directors, nursing school faculty and student nurses.

Presentation Format

  • Session Length
    • General Session – 60 minutes
    • Breakout Session – 45 minutes
  • The Annual Convention will take place all day on Thursday October 1st and morning only on Friday October 2nd. Sessions are available both days of the Convention.

Presentations should include practical takeaways, tools, or clear calls to action that attendees can implement in their professional settings.

Important Dates

  • Proposal Submission Deadline: May 15, 2026
  • Notification: no later than June 15, 2026
  • Convention Dates: October 1–2, 2026

The Annual Convention will address nursing’s past, present and future, exploring how each impacts and inspires professional nursing practice in Nebraska both today and tomorrow. Submissions are encouraged within that theme in a wide range of areas, including but not limited to:

  • Historical perspectives, lessons from nursing’s legacy, nurses who changed healthcare
  • Nursing leadership and professional influence
  • Innovation in clinical practice
  • Evidence-based practice and quality improvement
  • Nursing education and workforce development
  • Health equity and rural/community health
  • Strategies to support nurse well-being and workforce sustainability
  • Policy and advocacy in nursing
  • Interprofessional collaboration
  • New technologies and their impact on the profession
  • How today’s nurses will define the future

Presentations may have been published within the past two years or presented at another event. However, please plan to update the material and make it specific to our event and the target audience of Nebraska nurses.

Proposals will be reviewed by the event planning team, staff and assigned Nurse Planner and evaluated to ensure the following:

  • Proposal includes complete, accurate information
  • Content is current, evidence-based and suitable for the 45 to 60-minute time frame
  • The presentation does not promote personal interest in a service, product or book.
  • The presenter possesses experience and expertise in the subject area.

Proposals should include:

  • Presenter full name(s), credentials, and affiliation(s)
  • Contact information for the primary presenter (email and preferred phone number)
  • Short bio/intro including educational background, experience, and qualifications for presenting on the proposed topic (250 words or less)
  • Presentation title
  • Brief description of the presentation content, including practical takeaways or key learning attendees will gain from the session
  • Compensation requirements, if any, for honorarium OR free Convention registration
